Getting in Close

Seat belt sign goes off
Queue to disembark
Flight mode
Singing by herself
Single in the dark
Far from home
For a moment
Thinks of him
A memory
A phantom limb
Promises
She’s gotta keep
To herself
To take the leap
There’s a life to redesign
Everything’ll work out fine
Getting in close
For a moment
Thinks of her
Takes a sip
Of silencer
His belief
Choice applied
End results
A different life
All around the world

Dream King

Haunted by the angels of a hundred nights
Shrouded forms in amber light
Swimming in the waters as the lakesides burn
Birds and trees and silver fern
I hear a voice begin to sing
Upon his black throne sits the King
The mountains near the river where the travellers meet
Memories of the future and the bittersweet
Sadness comes to claim you as the waters rise
He sees you there behind your eyes

Black Night Sky

One day soon, they’re returning. They’re returning.
The hole in the sky that lets in the sun. It’s burning, it’s burning bright.
We stand and stare into the black night sky
Tryin’ to find a star or just a glimmer that can save us
You’ve gotta a tear in your electric eye
One day they’re coming back and taking everything they gave us
Streets gone dark in the shadows. In the shadows.
It’s the end of the day the earth stood still. No tomorrow. No tomorrow’s world.

Old man
Sits in the window
White van
Rain on the roof
He waits
Just for a glimpse of her
Disgrace
Dying inside
No fun, no fun
They came undone
Strung high
He’s a chord suspended
Neck tie
All the way down
“Who’s there?
I hear you breathing”
Nightmare
And nobody’s home
No fun, no fun
They came undone

Silk Cut Auckland, New Zealand
In a way Auckland band Silk Cut are simply thinking aloud. Drawing on their affection for 60’s and 70’s British TV and early
90’s shoegaze, they are at once eccentric and perfectly normal.
Recorded with a load of reverb and harmony, they present like echo-chamber daydreams.
